Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Today, James and Leyson had a fabulous time at Riley's Wizard of Oz themed 4th birthday party!  Since she (and I) love the Wizard of Oz so much, I decided to paint her birthday present to match her party theme!

A Picture is Worth 1,000 Words

I love hanging pictures around my house.  It's my home... and I want to see my kids' pictures EVERYWHERE!  (As if I don't see enough of them already.)  I could never paint anything that would mean as much to me, or make me as happy, as a beautiful picture of my kids.

My friend Erin, mommy of the 3 Little Ladybugs I wrote about earlier, had a fantastic idea to combine pictures, art and memories!  For her daughter Raelyn's first birthday, she added a creative touch to a bland, white, 11x16 photo mat.

Erin painted the letter "R" in the bottom left corner in a soft, iridescent, pink paint.  She then had everyone who attended Raelyn's first birthday party write messages of love to her beautiful baby girl.  I absolutely love the simplicity of the "R" and the look of all of the messages that now frame that adorable picture of Raelyn!

For her first birthday, Erin asked me to paint Harper's mat!  I was so surprised since she had done such a great job with Raelyn's, but she had this vision of a little owl for Harper.  I loooooove owls so I was super excited!  (One could say that it doesn't take much to excite me... and he or she would be absolutely right).

11x16 Mats hold an 8x10 picture.
Personalized Mats cost $18 + shipping.

Go Team!

I live in a house divided!  I was born and raised a Louisiana State University Tiger, and my husband a University of Oklahoma Sooner.  Sure, our teams don't cross paths much (except for that amazing 2003 National Championship game when the Tigers beat the Sooners 21-14 at the New Orleans Superdome... not that I keep track), but there is a definite battle over the remote during football season.

In fact, before the boys were even born we "argued" over which team our sons would prefer.  We also "argued" over the theme for our oldest's first birthday... LSU or OU theme?  We settled with a swimming pool theme since it was a swimming party (I know... clever, right?)

If you are a sports fan, please check out my Team Sports Decor below!  Just because I only have a few teams painted, doesn't mean I can't paint your favorite team (unless you're an Alabama fan.................. just joking!!!... kind of).
