Hoo! Hoo! An Owl Bedroom for Two!

Last May, I painted a growth chart and letters for new baby girl Kennedy's butterfly nursery!  Well, Kennedy just became a big sister the week before Thanksgiving to TWIN GIRLS, Kate and Klaire!  I was beyond thrilled to paint letters and growth charts for our dear friends' new bundles of joy!  I was also super excited to paint decor for an OWL-THEMED room!

How cute is this bedding??????  So cute that my sister, after helping me paint the growth charts, decided to get this bedding for her baby too!

Mod Dot Nursery

My friend Cristina is about to give birth to her second baby boy any day now!  Our oldest sons became best buds when they were in the same Pre-K class together last year, and now, I have the pleasure of designing her baby's nursery in her new home!  I feel so honored and blessed that she asked me to help her nest because, as you can probably assume, nesting is my favorite part of pregnancy!  It's such an amazing feeling to have the nursery complete right before baby comes.  It makes you feel relaxed and READY!  I am so happy to be a part of that experience for families.

I love the simplicity, yet the boldness of the bedding design.  I went to Cristina's house and drew up a few ideas for wall decor in the nursery.  Together we decided on a plan!  Since her son's name is Daniel, she really wanted a Bible verse about Daniel to hang in his room, but she also wanted to incorporate a few of her favorite verses as well.  Decisions, decisions... well... let's use them all!!!
"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety."
Psalm 4:8
"My God sent his angel and he shut the mouths of the lions.
They have not hurt me because I was found innocent in his sight."
Daniel 6:22
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..."
Jeremiah 29:11

Since the circle design on the bedding is very symmetrical, I wanted to maintain symmetry by incorporating 6 paintings in a grid pattern.  I also wanted the paintings to stand out so I incorporated different patterns using the same bold colors as the bedding.
The bedding came with two window valences, but the nursery only has one bedroom.  I used the other valence to make simple wall decor using embroidery hoops that I purchased for $1.50 a piece.  The circles from the bedding pattern fit PERFECTLY into the hoops.  This was MAJOR coincidence!
In addition to the circles, this collage also includes sentimental decor.
If placed alone on the wall, the decor would have looked smaller and bare,
but by grouping it together it adds interest and fills an otherwise bare space.
The only thing missing now is a baby!

Wings

Baby Wayne will be making his world debut within the next few weeks and if he is anything like his early bird big sister Ava (see her Bubblegum theme here), he'll be here any day now!

Wayne and Brooke are about to take a leap from a world of pink to all boy!  Since boys are always on the go and flying high, airplanes make a really appropriate and ADORABLE nursery theme!  If Baby Wayne is anything like my boys, he is going to LOVE all things that zoom across the sky!

New Letter Fonts!

So I have slowly been venturing into the world of FABRICS which means that I have finally entered the wonderful world that is Joann's Fabrics!  I have learned that this store doesn't just have sewing necessities, but also a few other crafty things such as WALL LETTERS!  That's right, folks, Kidspired Creations just got that much cooler because we can now use more fonts and more SIZES in our art!  Here is what I found!
These thin letters would be great for small designs and patterns.
These letters were HUGE like... 2 ft tall!  Ok maybe not that tall, but still REALLY big!
These 3 dimensional cardboard letters now come in 3 different sizes!
Quite possibly my new favorite... just think of the possibilities!  These are pretty large too!
Pretty simple font, but yes, another great option for wall letters if you have a smaller space.
What a great font for a classic boy or girl's nursery!
Great for a smaller space or a really long name!
I really like the width and simplicity of this font!
Cute font!  This is a smaller font, but I love the "dots" at each corner.
Smaller "bubble" font!
And of course, the old stand-by from Hobby Lobby!
And the original "Times New Roman" type font.
Curly Cue now comes in 10" letters too... in addition to the small letters below.
Small "curly cue" letters come in capital and lowercase.
These are the 5" letters for coat/towel racks.
Perfect for bow holders or signs with just initials.
Ok, so after writing this post, I realize how lame I am for not writing down the ACTUAL sizes and prices for all of these new letter options.  My apologizes!  In my defense, I did have a screaming toddler with me while I was taking all of these pictures... again, my apologizes to everyone in the store... and possibly in the adjoining stores as well.

Now, the prices at this store are a bit higher than Hobby Lobby's so that means these letters could be higher than $10/letter.  I will make sure the prices are still affordable so you can make your child's room cute on a budget!

If you are interested in purchasing wall letters that are a different font and size than we have normally supplied, please contact Casey at KidspiredCreations@gmail.com and I will definitely get you an estimate with an exact font size!  I can also special order from a supplier just about any font and size you can imagine!  The prices for those are a tad more expensive, though... just a head's up.

Here's a sneak peak of the letters I just did for my baby girl's (due in April) nursery...
Yarn-wrapped letters inspired by a picture on Pinterest!
These are not for sale because, quite frankly, they were a pain in the rear to do!
I did not really enjoy this project, but love the outcome!
I will be adding burlap flowers to it, but I needed a break from these
letters before I started those.

Oh La La!

It's a pink French-themed nursery!!!  Oui!  Baby girl Stella's nursery has some super adorable pink fabrics with brown and cream designs... all different... all coordinating... all beautiful!  Originally, I was sent a link to a website that featured the fabric patterns, but was then given actual swatches of the fabric!  This was FANTASTIC because though the online pictures of the fabrics looked great, the pink color was a bit off from the real-life version.
Fabric patterns used for the T, E, L and L.
Mom and Dad are focusing less on Parisian trademarks such as the Eiffel Tower and more on fleur de lys and other French design elements.  Oh la la!  This little artist from New Orleans just loves her fleur de lys!  I used the beautiful fleur de lis symbol with a special twist from the fabric patterns for the letters S and A.

Curly Q-ute!

I have been dying to paint the new Curly Q letters found at Hobby Lobby and I FINALLY got my chance!!!  They come unfinished so it takes a little more time to paint the entire letter thanks to all of the curly swirlies everywhere, but I absolutely love the final product!!!  The funnest part of all was painting them to match this adorable and super girlie bedding!
I LOVE all of the different patterns in this comforter!
Since pictures do not do colors justice, it was super helpful that this customer wrote out the shades of colors within the materials in the room.  And even more helpful?  Knowing the wall color in the room!  I definitely want the letters to POP against the wall instead of blending in or being just a shade or two off.
Good thing she told me the green was "lime," in the picture it looks more like a light sage.

Zebra Print... the New Polka Dot

Zebra print must be the "in" style for 'tweens and early teen girls' decor!  I have several orders for zebra print letters for a bunch of spunky 6th grader girls.  Zebra and pink, zebra and leopard print, zebra and purple... lots of stripes all around.  I'm definitely getting more orders for zebra than I am polka dot, that's for sure.  I love how these turned out!  They look GREAT against Melia's HOT PINK walls!
Kidspired's Creation:

While Melia's room is rocking the hot pink, Macy's room is decked in deep purple, and ZEBRA PRINT, of course.  She wanted dark purple and black stripes, but in order to add some contrast between the two dark colors, I decided to do a purple to lavender fade toward the center...
Kidspired's Creation:

Cassie also has a pink zebra print room like Melia, but her walls are white.  It was important for me to make sure each letter would POP against her white walls.  Also, because I was painting her first and middle name, I didn't want the zebra print to be dizzying, so I painted different zebra patterns on each of the letters in dark, medium, and light pink and black.
